Notes	This ax is decorated with Arabic letters painted on both sides. The inscription names the Ottoman sultans up to Mehmed III, but only cursorily and incompletely. The ax hammer bears the name of Sultan Mehmed III, which means that the weapon was made for a member of the Sultan’s bodyguards. The central medallion contains praise to God. We do not know how this ax entered the imperial collection.
