Notes	The skill of using lacquer was widely practiced in Iran from the sixteenth to the nineteenth centuries. Teaching artists in Isfahan or Tehran presented lacquer works to the court and the upper circles of society. The main themes depicted were court life, the legendary history of Iran, and religious themes based on the Qur’an and the Old and New Testaments. The mirror and the dressing box are a beautiful example of the great influence of European Baroque paintings on Iranian lacquer work, especially during the Qajar era.
