Notes
This rare sculpture was probably used during the royal coronation. It acts as a counterweight on a canvas to hold a sword or a funnel to deposit gunpowder. It was produced during the Mughal era and animals with gold-inlaid eyes engraved on their surface. The animals in the engraved center are cats, bears or nilgais (blue bulls). This horn is an outstanding example of the Indo-Islamic style of decorative representation. The special animal shapes may be derived from book designs.
