Notes The shape, size, and decoration of this bowl show the closeness between luster-coated glass and lustrous ceramic vessels, as the divisions of its walls and the use of images of special-style palm trees also appear repeatedly on luster-painted ceramic bowls made in Fatimid Egypt. The Arabic inscription around the frame of this bowl, drawn in a special angular Kufic script, has no meaning yet.
