Notes
The piece is a triangular pottery lamp with four holes and a handle that ends in the shape of a distorted animal head. Within the inner channels appears an inscription written in Arabic in Kufic script, reading “The Legend of Ibn Ustan.” This lamp is made of porcelain and has a thin layer of blackish-brown metallic colour. The lamp shows traces of smoke resulting from use, as such lamps were often used to light homes.
