Notes
This part of the corner of the necklace is curved in its lower right part, and is surrounded at the top by a band of small four-leafed rosettes, and a small decorative relief, which has the shape of a thick stick carved in relief, and on its lower right side, with a molded ornament in the shape of a stick cut from an arch. The floor of the piece is decorated with dense floral decoration, distributed on two levels whose engraving is intaglio. The lower level is furnished with floral shapes connected by interlocking branches, either in the form of simple smooth palmettes, or double-sectioned ones with twisted sections, or three-leaf vases similar to lily flowers. The upper level is adorned with small floral ornamental arches, composed of palmettes. The first is double and surrounds a phrase written backwards in semi-Kufic letters, “al-Malik,” and ends with an oval-shaped peak, surmounted by a rosette, the edge of which exceeds the band of rosettes. While the other surrounds a floral composition that ends with a wreath. This part belongs to the corner arch of a building located in Fez, and dates back to the Saadian period, and forms part of the wooden cladding of the arcade arch.
