Notes
The shirt's chest is open to the level of the abdomen, and it has a round collar. Its front section is entirely decorated with Qur’anic verses, supplications, magic formulas, and numerical incantations. As for the back section, it has drawings of natural flowers executed with colored dyes. Most of the writings on the talisman shirts consist of parts and verses from the Qur’an, in addition to the beautiful names of God, the names of many of the prophets, the names of the four angels, the name of the seal of the prophets, Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and poems glorifying him, and sometimes his biography. Sometimes the names of Fatima, her two sons, Hassan and Hussein, the four Rightly Guided Caliphs, and the zodiac symbols are mentioned. Thus, most talisman shirts contain magical expressions and numerology spells composed of letters and numbers that are believed to have magical energies and meanings. In the museum there are many talisman shirts belonging to different shrines.
