Notes This painting consists of two pieces of carved gypsum with decorative elements made up of interlocking strips, dotted with pearls (grains) painted in blue on a red background. These strips form octagonal stars with three-petaled flowers inside them. This type of decoration was common in the palaces of the Qal’at Beni Hammad. The paint on most of the pieces has faded due to the passage of time.
