Notes
The silver face of this mirror is a rare case of precious metalwork surviving from the Fatimid period. It is decorated with specific Fatimid scrolls, heart shapes, and inscriptions of blessings in Kufi. The circular shape of the mirror, inlaid with a domed central decorative button that allows a thread to pass through it which is used as a handle, makes it originate from China. Chinese models could have reached Egypt either through Iran or through the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.
