Notes
The simple red woven outer surface of this tent contrasts with the large and elaborate embroidered decoration of the inner surface, which was probably carried out in the Iranian town of Rasht, a site famous for its rich embroidery using the chain stitch technique. The tent includes four walls with a door facade at the end of the long side and a gabled roof made of two large rectangular facades and two rectangular facades at each end. The inner surface features a fabric decorated with red, blue, green and yellow pure wool, intricately woven with chain stitch embroidery (known as the Rachet technique). Leather has been added to support potential stress points, wear and friction.
