Notes
This rare carpet represents a vivid image of the Gulf Arab Council. The Majlis is part of Qatari homes, a symbol of hospitality throughout the region. Woven with knots of camel hair and decorated with Persian patterns, the parts of the carpet embody the different sections of the Majlis. The outer parts reflect the seating places of the tribal chief with his family and guests, while the middle part provides a space for dancing with swords to the tunes of music. With places for board games to entertain children and adults, along with warm hospitality by providing food and coffee. The Majlis is open to everyone for dialogue and discussion in politics and business, celebrating weddings, or even times of sadness. This Qatari tradition is still a forum for storytelling and dialogue between elders and new generations.
