Notes The tabla consists of 16 assembled tiles and is the palace of the Grand Vizier Bayalhabasha (ca. 1515 - 1578) or a mosque that he founded. Both were completed in 1573 and richly decorated with tile fields. There is a form of delicate knots of bands of clouds in what is known as “red tomatoes” and prevails in front of the spirals (swirling shapes). The palace and the mosque were renovated after the earthquake in 1890, and the tile pallet was sold worldwide through dealers. At least nine identical pallets now remain in museums in Europe and America.
