Notes
This piece belongs to a type characterized by the shape of a rectangular box made up of several panels, some of which are movable. There are four pillar-like supports in the corners that support the entire body. The relief decoration is present only on the front panel and is composed of floral designs (palmettes and leafy spirals) and geometric shapes (lozenges). The front panel is surmounted by a series of inaccurately carved brackets. The box is part of a decorated wooden collection from the Swat region of Pakistan, dating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The collection includes furniture (chairs and chests) and architectural elements (column capitals and bases).
