Notes
The sides were clearly used to cover the entrance to a Persian tent made in the city of Rasht, located on the Caspian Lake. The rich composition, positioned symmetrically along the central axis of the entrance, is reminiscent of the designs of what are known as meditation rugs. It includes in the center a large multi-lobed arch and the crown of a cypress tree, and at the bottom of the tree on both sides is a lion carrying a sword - a symbol of Ali, and a peacock - a symbol of Paradise. The sides feature an overall design of floral designs and birds embroidered in the form of successive stitches, and the outer border Embroidered with wool motifs on a red ground surrounding the sides on three sides.
