The tablet was installed in one of the two houses that stood at Bab Hatta, one of the gates of the Holy Mosque located in the northern wall of the Mosque. The text talks about a two-home endowment for visitors (pilgrims) from Diyarbakir who were coming to Jerusalem after their return from Hajj to Mecca. These pilgrims lived in these two houses while they were in the city of Jerusalem. The two houses were the ruler of Diyarbakir during that period, Abu al-Nasr Nasir al-Dawla Ahmad ibn Marwan. The text of the inscription is as follows: “[In the name of] God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is what stopped and imprisoned the Emir, the Most Merciful [...] the state and its pillar, Dhu al-Saramir [?] Abu Nasr Ahmad Ibn Marw [that] [God] [has] [better] rewarded him and made good what is done to him in these two adjoining houses [and] their borders and rights over all those who came from Diabakir according to what [was mentioned] in the letter of their endowment. Whoever changes it or changes it will have the curse of God upon him.” And that [on the date] of Ramadan in the year forty-five and forty-five, may God reward him.”
