| Notes |
This carpet probably originates from places in the court of the Mughal ruler Akbar (1566-1605) and came to the museum after the acquisition of the Oriental Museum in 1907. The naturalistic depiction of flora and fauna is characteristic of Mughal court art. Its formation indicates that the carpet was also used as decoration. |
