Notes The piece is an alchemical glass vessel with an oval stem. Attached to the stem of the vessel is a long, thin tube that is curved towards the top. The tube is narrow when it connects to the trunk and gradually expands towards the flat lip protruding outward. The vessel is made of thin, transparent white glass, and is devoid of decoration to allow observation of chemical reaction processes. The Abbasid era in particular witnessed a great scientific and cultural renaissance, and excavators discovered many glass antiquities with utilitarian uses dating back to this era.
