This form is derived from early 16th-century Italian dishes (porcelain glazed with tin compounds), and is a style that was imitated by Ottoman potters. The plate rests on a low, circular base, and both the upper and lower surfaces of the plate are heavily decorated. The bottom of the plate is decorated with a natural floral design of carnations, lavender and roses emerging from a bouquet of green grass. On the wide edge appears a band of alternating roses and serrated leaves moving counterclockwise, and between the main composition, some small flowers and leaf patterns appear. The lower side of the plate is decorated with fourteen flowers with green centers alternating with pairs of blue lavenders, all of which are decorated with black borders.
