Notes
Although the exact construction to which this pair of carved wooden doors belongs is not known, evidence lies in Qur'anic inscriptions carved in Naqshti calligraphy framing four panels of openwork designs of twisting vines. Every text quoted from the Qur’an mentions the reward of Paradise, and the one on the right door (2:274) in particular says that the rich who spend their money in the way of God will have no fear on the Day of Resurrection. The overall appearance of the group of inscriptions suggests that these two doors may have decorated a Shiite shrine or a Sufi grave.
