Notes The wooden Mamluk door, with its panels inlaid with ivory, provides a prominent example of Mamluk wood engraving in the first half of the fourteenth century. The door consists of a pair of folded panels that show a geometric composition of a lace-work that forms a star with twelve points. The first panel contains Qur’anic verses and the second contains a proverb. The door is mounted on a nineteenth-century frame representing a wonderful oriental piece. The frame is decorated with an interconnected geometric formation and shows an inscription panel of knot-shaped layout within the element. Decorative.
