Notes
Zellija, with blue paint over a white background and floral decoration, belongs to the type called “independent blossom”. The flower is viewed from the front; The spherical and unfolded petals are widely separated, the group resulting from the simple division of the circumference of the circle into eight parts by two perpendicular diagonals, and the bisectors corresponding to the angles thus obtained. Care was taken in drawing the edges here, and a separate petal was drawn inside each cavity in blue, creating a very stylized flower, with the four stems emerging from it directed towards the corners of the slip. Floral decoration was clearly favored by ceramic makers, and simpler models exist, without lines to separate the petals, and with corners decorated with small circles or flowers all smooth in white on a blue background. It is possible to see glazes of the resolved type in other institutions, such as the National Museum of Pottery and Fine Arts, Gonzalez-Marti, in the city of Valencia. A sub-assembly of the glaze itself must be registered, in which the center, which corresponds to the corolla, is divided into eight parts by means of corner lines, and the axes are connected to each other by arches.
