Notes
This jug has a slightly flared body with a pronounced carination bulge above the foot, a sharply curved shoulder, and a slender thumb-grip handle connecting the frame to the jug's shoulder. The shape, along with the structural body, has regular vertical grooves, and the additions on the neck are inspired by jugs with a ring handle (decorative knob), which is an imitation of the rings in metal jugs. Slightly smaller jugs with a similar neck and poured but spherical shape were often produced in brown or turquoise glass/glazed earthenware. They belong to vessels that were produced in large quantities and were simple for daily use, such as water jugs, for example. The porcelain silica material allows for more careful and refined work on added details as well as the shape of the piece. Although the overall shape of our piece is simple, some details such as the grooved body and the neck inserts are fully worked and would probably belong to a fine piece of equipment for home use.
