Notes Abu Al-Qasim Khalaf Ibn Al-Abbas Al-Zahrawi Al-Ansari, better known as Al-Zahrawi, became famous thanks to the discoveries he made in the field of surgery. This manuscript represents the final volume of his thirty-volume medical encyclopedia, which dealt with medicine and the human body, and was compiled by Al-Zahrawi over a period of fifty years. In this volume, the Arab-Andalusian surgeon provides a detailed explanation of surgical techniques and appropriate instruments for performing various medical interventions, many of which he invented himself. This manuscript contains about 158 drawings of surgical instruments, and it appears that their purpose was primarily illustrative. This can be inferred from the way these drawings were executed, which indicates that their inclusion was more practical than artistic. However, despite this apparent lack of care in technical drawing, this manuscript is of inestimable value due to the profound impact that its text has had on the history of medicine in general. Al-Zahrawi was a pioneer in his field, and paved the way for modern surgery.

Cilt Both front and back cover of this brown, Moroccan leather binding are decorated with an intricately cut out oval medallion that is embossed with floral ornaments. Further to this is a flap that also has an embossed medallion with floral ornaments on it, albeit a bit smaller and rounder than the ones on the covers.
