Notes
Muqarbasat are decorations with a honeycomb structure in the form of pendants that decorate domes or niches, especially in Arab-Moroccan architecture. The parallelepiped ceramic pieces that make up this group have two sections: one solid and the other composed of four horizontal grooves. The cross-shaped base of each piece and the grooved section are painted with light green enamel; Traces of yellow also appear on some sides. The pieces were assembled together in the form of a pyramid using mortar that was used on the solid section, while the notched section remained visible. This type of muqarbas is the first relic discovered in the Islamic West, which can be attributed to the Hammadi Caliph Al-Mansur (481 - 498 AH / 1089 - 1105 AD). It appears that this part of the muqarbas was decorating the upper section overlooking the inner courtyard of a house. sea; This decoration was undoubtedly installed as a wall mount.
