| Notes | The piece is a fresco located in the upper bar of the western wall of the reception hall in Qusair Amra. The painting depicts a scene of a group of wild donkeys inside a cordoned off area being chased towards a hunting net. Doll-like figures appear next to the net carrying torches to scare the animals and make them head towards the net. In the painting, among the speeding animals, three men are seen riding speeding horses. The man who appears on the far left of the painting (the southern side) looks as if he had just fallen from his horse. There is a scene on the northern wall of the eastern wing of the reception hall depicting cornered animals being sheared and speared by some hunters. This last scene seems to be a continuation of the first scene, as after the wild animals are chased and cornered, they are hunted and killed. |
