Notes Starting in the 15th century, the Albania we know today belonged to the Ottoman Empire for more than four hundred years. The traditional clothing there is therefore strongly influenced by the Ottomans, as can be seen in this floor-length coat. The collar is cut in a rounded shape and the extra-length sleeves are open at the bottom. The dress is buttoned in the middle with 41 decorative metal buttons that reach the waist. Rich decorative embroidery using the technique of adding pieces of fabric covers the coat. The lining consists of panels with vertical strips.
