Notes
The piece is a gold necklace decorated with exquisite interlaced ornaments represented by motifs of intertwined plant branches. The necklace has two chains connected to twenty samlaks (a samlak is an oval decorative unit) decorated with decorations of intertwined plant branches. From sixteen small buds hang small buds, each of which ends with a pearl. From the two middle fish hangs a pendant in the shape of an inverted crescent with an inscription in naskh script colored in enamel that reads, “Eternal glory.” Hanging from this pendant is another round pendant with a large piece of red agate in the middle. Hanging from two smalts to the right and left of the middle pendant are two other pendants, each with a lobe of bloodstone in the middle - a type of agate. The Muslim jeweler used several methods in decorating the jewellery, including inlaying with precious stones and enamel, raised and deep engraving, hollowing out, notching and interlacing. The interlacing method was used in decorating this necklace, which involves preparing gold in the form of long wires formed into interlocking decorative shapes connected by a special solder.
