Notes
This helmet (open helmet) belongs to a person called Grand Vizier Mehmed Skulovic (1505-79 AD). He was one of the many Christian boys of the Dusheremeh (he converted to Islam and trained for leadership positions). The luxurious oriental helmet is decorated with framed carvings containing praises of God and verses from the Qur’an. Skolovic quickly rose in the court of Sultan Suleiman (1494-66 AD) and gained his position as grand vizier under the Sultan's successors, Selim III (1524-74 AD) and Murad III (1546-95 AD).
