Notes
This massive Qur'anic manuscript from India spans more than one meter in length. These great handcrafted scriptures in India are likely the result of local scripts of the Qur'an and calligraphy as a form of devotion and worship. The verse(s) are composed in black ink in Naskh script within a black frame that enhances the frame on the thin paper. Individual verses and decorative elements also appear in gold plated for decoration and emphasis. A selection of pages illustrate parts of the surah in bright colors of dye in diamond patterns and a medallion with floral decoration.
