Notes
This dagger is a Dewanturk dagger that is placed on the chest. In the Ottoman court, luxurious souvenir weapons were placed by high-ranking people in the court at council meetings held in the presence of the Sultan. The fine workmanship indicates that the artist who made it is Persian. In 1874, the weapon was presented to Emperor Franz Joseph (1830 - 1916 AD) by Dr. Ottokar Freiherr von Schlichta the Great, director of the Oriental Academy and chief translator of the Inter-Uniter of the Ottoman Sublime Porte.
