Notes Jewelry and artifacts made from precious metals dating back to the early Islamic era are rare, as the metals from which they were made were often melted down and reworked using modern methods. The shank of the bracelet is decorated with prominent bands of alternating palm fronds, a pattern common in Fatimid art. These bracelets are made as a pair, allowing them to be worn on the wrist. It is believed to have been a gift to a wealthy woman, perhaps from Egypt or Syria in the Middle Ages.
