Notes
The quadricolor windows are made of glass pieces of different colors and are arranged within a plaster framework to depict carnations in a vase. The windows were made in Cairo in the nineteenth century. During this period, the increasing European influence led to a decline in the production of such windows. Glass windows of this type, simple as well as decorated, are found in traditional buildings in Türkiye and Arab countries. They are usually installed high above unglazed windows, which are sometimes covered with shutters and nets. Such windows were used in the Middle East to decorate a number of buildings, including palaces, mosques, homes, and graves.
