Notes
The vast historical erudition, imaginative power and national significance of the Shahnameh (Book of Kings), a poetic epic completed by Ferdowsi in 1010, has inspired countless works in all forms of expression. This page AKM164 (Yusra p. 521) of the Shahnameh was written for the Safavid ruler Shah Tahmaz/Tahmasp (r. 1524-76) and centers around Haftavad, a middle-class man of Seven sons and a daughter, whose fate was linked to the rise of Sassanian rule (224-651).
