Notes During the 15th and 16th centuries, luster porcelain made in Manises, a suburb of Valencia on the east coast of Spain, was made for Italian, Spanish and French buyers. Christian symbols, Latin inscriptions and European coats of arms are therefore standard elements in the iconography of Manises luster vessels. This exceptional bowl bears the two crossed staffs of the Gondi banking family of Florence. It can be dated to the late 5th century. Ten.
