Notes
This hollow cast incense burner is shaped like a partridge. We can see inlay work all over the body and perforated work on the neck, chest, wings, back and tail. What is distinctive about the head are the set of high-set quadrilateral eyes, ears and a slightly curved crest. Medallions and chalices of different shapes with reclining plants, geometric patterns and blooming flowers with six petals are placed on the head and neck. The center of the chest has a quadrilateral opening with a drawer. Her paintings are decorated with perforated and inlaid climbing plants and geometric patterns. The lower chest is framed by an angular pattern, which is interrupted by a blooming flower with six petals. The wings are raised and their tips are prominent. Inlaid and perforated elements can also be found on the back and tail of the bird. Its three feet make it different from the real representation and make it closer to the mythical creature. You can see a similar piece in the Metropolitan Museum (No. 2008.460).
