Notes
The name of this small crushed glass container is related to its shape, which resembles a molar with its four peg-shaped feet. Since these bottles originally had a stopper, they were most likely used to store and deliver perfumes, oils, and essences used in expensive cosmetics. Wealthy consumers used to have bottles designed in the same shape, made of ivory, metal, or rock crystal (quartz).
