Notes This Indian metal plate depicts Shah Jangir, the fourth Mughal Emperor. There are two inscriptions on it: the first says: “Balad’s Daylight in the Year 1013” and the second is a golden inscription on the upper left side that says “Maulana Jangir, Emperor.” The plate is decorated with small frames in which verses of poetry about the emperor are engraved. The beginning and end of the hair are missing, which means that there are other pieces of the same type carrying the rest of the hair. The poem depicts a discussion between the emperor and his deputy.
