Notes The painting depicts a young woman of the noble class, wearing elegant clothes and wearing a rich set of jewellery. While at first glance the work appears beautiful and successful, many errors and inconsistencies become apparent upon closer inspection. Through the skillful choice of colours, the careful rendering of details and the effective decorative composition we can observe more closely that the woman is placed in a kind of tent, the depth of which is only faintly revealed by a veil. The artist's form itself is embodied without depth. The visible face is three-quarters round to the left, and the body is seen from the front, while the feet are shaped forward. The image is formed with its individual elements in an unnatural way, and this appears without knowledge of anatomy or perspective. Through these dissonances, the work itself appears as a piece influenced by Western art that an Eastern artist tried to experiment with (i.e. experimenting with Western art) without knowing it in depth. Both the technique (oil on canvas) and the subject (portrait) indicate that these traditions are alien to the local culture.
