This fabric is unique and is a carpet woven with a technique that at that time was mainly used in Mongolian China. But the fact that the golden thread is animal in origin and is spun around cotton points towards the center of Western weaving. The fabric was probably made by or under the supervision of Chinese weavers in Iran during the Ilkhanid era or Iraq.
