Notes
The black-blue piece is made from a shawl and is decorated with patterned bands used in woven carpets with khatalkovi patterns, figures of high-style figures, quadrupeds and birds. The overall style is reminiscent of Coptic fabrics, but it is distinctive to the Fayoum region in Upper Egypt, which Muslim writers confirm is a region specialized in weaving fabrics made of wool.
