Notes The piece is a deep cup with a ring-shaped stem and a circular top. The decoration consists of a branch in the form of twisted branches, from which descend filamentous palmettes. The scrolls develop and overlap, forming an exuberant floral decoration that wraps around the bunch of grapes. On the other hand, circles divide the space into sufficiently clear and tabled areas. However, unity and movement emanate from the whole, which provides a harmonious balance between the golden-brown shapes and the sugar-colored surface, and the void is woven without being saturated. To make golden ceramics, the recipe of which was explained, but without much precision, since the 6th century AH / 13th century AD, a mixture of copper and silver is used in very precise proportions, and ocher is added to this mixture. red (iron oxide known as "mazon"), then dissolve everything in vinegar. Gilded ceramics, which spread in Andalusia starting in the 7th and 8th centuries AH/13th and 14th centuries AD, were popular in Egypt during the same period. The floral decoration was adjacent to the animal shapes. The discovery of this cup of Andalusian origin in Tunisia attests to the importance of trade relations that developed between Africa and Islamic Spain, especially starting from the 7th century AH / 13th century AD.
