Notes
The piece is a small jewelry box with a bronze lid perched on four oval legs attached to the body of the legs with incised decoration and rolled edges. The lid has a flat, rectangular surface decorated with interconnected/overlapping geometric and floral designs. There is a medallion resembling a small wheel in each corner, and five others equally spaced on the flat surface of the lid. The beveled edge of the lid has floral designs and also medallions with intersecting lines. The band near the lip of the cover contains a series of running dogs or deer, which faces to the left. The two ends of the box are decorated in the same way as the flat upper surface of the lid. Each wide facet has ten medallions in the shape of a wheel, and each narrow facet has five central medallions and four half-medallions, one on each edge of the panel.
