Notes In Türkiye, underglazed pottery is produced for the Ottoman ruling class and is known for its unique style of drawings and colors and has always been admired in Europe. The most beautiful items are plates, bowls and drinking vessels. These pieces from Iznik were another major influence on European ceramic production. This Iznik plate, with its complex floral design, is painted in cobalt blue under the glaze and in soft manganese green, framed in black, and dates back to approximately 1540 AD.
