Notes A section of a marble column, possibly dating back to the Roman era. Its upper part was broken, losing a third of its original height. There are several corroded areas on its surface. In the lower part of the piece we find chisel strikes, and at a height of 1.60 cm, the shape of a square leaf was carved, with a side length of 20 cm, and a bas-relief inscription in Kufi script was engraved on the surface of the leaf (translated by: M. Amari) and the text states: Praise be to God alone. The full height of the column’s body before it was broken is estimated at approximately 2.96 cm. It dates back to the Roman or Byzantine period, and the use of marble indicates the grandeur of the original place in which it was located. It may be a column in a palace or a mosque.
