Notes A round quartz-paste dish (frit) with a shallow bottom, a wide upturned lip, and a low, rounded base. On the bottom appears a young man wearing a green kaftan, a red belt, a blue shirt and pants, red high-necked shoes, and a green turban. He is holding a scroll in his raised right hand. To the right of the young man is drawn a long cluster of blue hyacinths and red roses, and to the left is a cluster of lilies and blue hyacinths. Around and behind the young man, more floral details appear, while the edge has a wavy frame executed in black. The underside of the plate is decorated with alternating compositions of three blue and three green twigs outlined in black. A group of similar dishes in terms of pictorial decoration have come down to us. It is believed that the young man within the design is the legendary young lover Ibrahim, known in Ottoman literature. It is also believed that such dishes were produced in the Golden Century during the seventeenth century at the request of ordinary people. There is a similar dish in the Equine Palace, Renaissance Museum.
