Notes This spherical-shaped incense burner offers a very versatile construction. Its cover takes the form of an openwork dome, decorated with intertwined branches, and topped - the dome - is a blooming rosette inlaid with coral. The lower part of the vessel, where the incense is placed, bears the same decoration. The two sections are connected to each other by a joint and a small chain from which a coral ball hangs. The whole rests on a circular base, with light spiral decorations inlaid with coral and decorated with simplified floral motifs, alternating with studded relief surfaces. The fragrances of incense or amber that were burned inside the incense burner over the glowing coals seeped through the hollow lid. This incense burner was used in homes and mosques on the occasion of religious holidays, contributing to adding an attractive fragrance to the surrounding atmosphere.
