The room of Rudolf II's art objects contained more than 100 Turkish knives and daggers. This piece in particular is a luxurious example of these knives, which are mainly used as silverware, and its iron handle is decorated with Damascus gold work. The leather of the sheath is decorated with rubies, turquoise and Arabic inscriptions
