Notes
This piece is a bronze grinding bowl in octagonal shape. There is a coffee inscription along the frame, while embossed lion heads, birds, and ribbons decorate the base. The main body is decorated with teardrop-shaped decorative buttons, and there is a handle to hold the bowl while preparing ingredients. Because of its octagonal shape, low base, and turned-out lips separated from the body by castings, the bowl was probably made between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. A similar piece is located in the Victoria and Albert Museum, which is similar to this bowl in terms of size and design.
