Notes The painting was originally part of a frieze with bands of verses from the Qur’an, which is about two kilometers long. The inscription is in simple, thick Kufic script, whose decorative element increases slightly in width at the end of the letters. The painting was purchased in Cairo in 1848 by the French Consul Delaporte, and after the restoration process, it was installed in the Ibn Tulun Mosque.
