The bowl is painted with multi-coloured lustre-lacquer colors achieved using silver, copper and sulfur oxides and is decorated with bay leaves on the frame and a dotted geometric pattern. The design reflects the association of ancient luster-painted pottery with glass, as the shapes reflect those found on late antique artifacts.
